Thanks for fixing the wildlife screw up. --Spiraltwist 21:17, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
i'm not crazy about the links to 'The "real" Doktor Sleepless' linking to shows on KPFA.org. the dj calls himself Doktor Sleepless, apparently with permission (in the linked show he gives credit to WE around 61:58 for "giving me license to manifest his tulpa, Doktor Sleepless").
so it's not the link i have a problem with, but the wording of it -- even with "real" in quotes it's seems to suggest that the DJ preceeded the character. it's clearly the opposite. i think the fix is 1) to create a page for the DJ and his show; 2) come up with another phrasing for the link ("Doktor Sleepless the DJ" would work, though surely there's a better way to put it); and 3) add that phrasing and link to the main page external links section.
got any other suggestions for how to phrase the link? --Taz 11:31, 16 October 2008 (PDT)
I felt it was worth mentioning, but I wasn't overly sure how to do it. Maybe a link to the mention on Warren's site? or the whitechapel discussion. And the quotation marks were intended to suggest the ambiguity of the word real (real as in physical presence rather than "authentic"- which I also feel is a word too ambiguous to use without quotations). I'm not quite sure what would be a better word for a fiction existing in the physical world based on a pre-existing fiction. Feel free to replace with something better, although stating him as a DJ doesn't particularly differentiate him from the comic book character.--Mark 05:43, 17 October 2008 (PDT)
oh dear god. that's good. i hadn't seen the mention on Warren's site. hmmm. this brings up all manner of potential possibilities. ok: yes, certainly worth mentioning, no doubt about it. good call. no, quotes around the word real aren't specific enough to do what you hoped to do -- the ambiguity comes across, but not the differentiation between physical/authentic. perhaps the internet slang IRL? eg, "Doktor Sleepless (IRL)".
and you're right of course about our Dok being a DJ too. i don't really think of him as one -- all i see is him preaching into the radio mic. but that doesn't mean that other readers -- not to mention the good people of Heavenside -- don't see DJ as one of his many facets. so again, good call.
let me meditate on it a while. --Taz 06:12, 17 October 2008 (PDT)
The radio show was one of the things that I was going to add to Incursions, I just haven't gotten around to doing so yet.

Good point on that, Taz. I don't like the idea of the adding a link to the main page though, because he's not doing it consistantly, where as the podcast is coming out fairly regularly.
I do like Mark's idea of
Maybe a link to the mention on Warren's site? or the whitechapel discussion.
Mainly because that is where I first saw it mentioned (if the guy sent Warren a link directly before hand, I don't know). I'd link both, actually.
I'm not quite sure what would be a better word for a fiction existing in the physical world based on a pre-existing fiction. Feel free to replace with something better, although stating him as a DJ doesn't particularly differentiate him from the comic book character Yeah, that's a kicker, but workable though, I think.
How about Reflection - A DJ Becomes Doktor Sleepless?, first a little blurg about what its about, followed by links to WC, Warren's site, and the DJs site. I'm just thrown back to where Reinhhardt's talking to himself in the mirror, becoming comeone else before our eyes. Just like the DJ became Doktor Sleepless, if only for the night.

"Reflection: A [Berkeley] DJ Manifests Doktor Sleepless" maybe? with or without the berkeley. hell, it's a good idea, regardless of the wording. the note on warren's site links up a freebie download, Muslimgauze-remixed-by-JRD, which should definitely be included. i didn't see the (original?) Whitechapel mention so maybe there's other interesting tidbits there. i'm not sure the DJ isn't still manifesting; seems like he wasn't the main host of the show so he might pop in later in the show's run, but i haven't had time (and probably won't) to listen to all the archives to see for myself. but you're right, Incursions is the right place for it. main page external links can always be added to if we find out he's still at it.

I like how you re-worded it: "Reflection: A DJ Manifests Doktor Sleepless" (I'd drop the Berkely part, as it can be mentioned in the post)
I honestly haven't checked the site since the original time it was up. Links to Whitechapel posts:[1] [2]
main page external links can always be added to if we find out he's still at it. - I agree with that; just want to keep the main page neat. --Spiraltwist 18:18, 17 October 2008 (PDT)
thanks for changing the wording on the links, Mark. i've added a page of that title and linked both places to the new page. the external link to ellis' post can be found on the new page. --Taz 16:25, 20 October 2008 (PDT)
Although how you discovered my secrets is beyond me...
They came through in one of my feeds. :) --Spiraltwist 11:18, 25 November 2008 (PST)
Mark, something on the main page is bothering me, and I can't fix it - it's not editable on my end that I know of. On the bottom, where it lists the last time the page was modified, and accessed, it has the "About Doktor Sleepless" link. Cue my analness: It there anyway to slide the "About Doktor Sleepless" link completely on the next line, with it being split between the two lines? Thanks! --Spiraltwist 06:42, 27 November 2008 (PST)
Never mind on that change, the old laptop just gives a different view. --Spiraltwist 08:52, 28 November 2008 (PST)
OK. I have to confess I was a bit confused as to what your problem actually was anyway!--Mark 08:57, 28 November 2008 (PST)
Thank you! You did all the hard work, moving the information here. Thanks for that! :) --Spiraltwist 19:50, 10 July 2010 (PDT)
