The Mind reader was killed by Dr. Albert Cannon, after the Doctor allowed him to read his mind. More details were given into the John Reinhardts past, as Dr. Albert Cannon was assigned to be his guardian after his parents died.

Interesting to note that Dr. Albert Cannon gutted the mind reader, and his entrails made a cthulu type picture. Also, it is questionable whether Dr. Albert Cannon is even human, as he is here to "clean up the mess" left by John Reinhardt.
