This is a possibility for why there are multiple John Reinhardts running around.--Adrammalech 11:24, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

Hmmm. Someone is interestingly ahead of the game. --Warren Ellis 16:06, 13 September 2007 (PDT)

Now if I could just figure out how...--Adrammalech 13:55, 17 September 2007 (PDT)

Re. Tulpas as misunderstanding of tulkus... that may well be, but of course at this point, thanks to David-Neel, the concept of tulpas exists and has resulted in attempts to make them. And as the Good Doktor tells us, authenticity is shit.

It seemed to me that the tulpa would be a great metaphor for what is happening in the story. If you define it as something that is created by sheer force of willpower, then you could view any organization as a tulpa. Take contracts, are they anything more than formalizations of agreements (which themselves have no physical form)? How about organizations, hierarchy and structure do not have physical form, yet it can still exert considerable influence (think Stanford Prison Experiment). In addition, Sleepless repeatedly talks about leaving stuff around that people put to various uses (shriekygirls and grinders, for example). Doesn't this fit in with the idea of creating something and then having it take on a life of its own? Just some thoughts.--Tom 08:51, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
