Talk:The Prosaic Hypothesis
From doktorsleepless
I honestly think that's still a fascinating if unfantastical way this whole thing could end.
BUT... if we combine the Prosaic Hypothesis with the concept of the tulpa, or perhaps a groupthink tulpa, we get something interesting. Perhaps it started out with psychosexual trauma, but as John Reinhardt grew up and began to experiment with different aspects of metaphysics, created tulpas like the Doktor as a way to manifest his anguish and act upon them in some way.
Of course, John Reinhardt was also a genius and probably would have read up on psychosexual trauma at some point. His own self-awareness of his scarring could have assuaged or abetted his madness.
Thoughts? Do I have a theory of my own? --Murphix 08:03, 18 September 2007 (PDT)
i dont think warren would do something so basic... it would seem like a copout if he did.
"The conditions for his illness were created when, in his childhood, he interrupted his parents in the act of coitus, embedding a deep set psychosexual trauma." That still wouldn't explain the strangeness of his parents death. "He knows my parents didn't have a mark on their bodies. He knows his superiors filed it as a joint suicide and just ignored the absence of a cause of death." I also can't find anything relating to whether his relaitonship ever got sexual with Sing Watson, and she seems to link it to his reading of 'The Darkening Sky' more than anything else.--ContrabandStan 07:35, 14 April 2009 (PDT)
