Talk:The Dick Hypothesis
From doktorsleepless
I'm definitely getting "The Golden Man" vibes from your hypothesis. Perhaps the way in which John Reinhardt uses these alternate timelines is similar to how the titular character, Cris, does: feeling out each probability until he finds the one that's most comfortable. But there's a twist on it, hence things like, say, the Mirror Event, which indicates that these alternative timeline Reinhardts are not necessarily under Reinhardt Prime's control.
It also bares a slight resemblance to Kurt Vonnegut's "unstuck in time" idea from Slaughterhouse 5.
Do I make any sense at all? --Murphix 07:46, 18 September 2007 (PDT)
Sure. I haven't read "The Golden Man", but the picture is get is one where Reinhardt has a lot more unpleasant work to do in order to do any time shifting. I do find myself somehow reminded of Slaughterhouse 5; I nearly used the phrase 'unstuck in time' in first writing the page, but then I might've had to call it The Vonnegut Hypothesis, which just doesn't have the same charm. --Chaos 08:10, 18 September 2007 (PDT)
