Maybe the former librarian read a certain book and received his mind powers. --Spiraltwist 21:05, 14 December 2007 (PST)

I think it has to do with him being a grinder. He is wearing the grinder symbol on his shirt. -- Funxnotdead 18:34, 25 December 2007 (EST)

He seemed a little confused, to say the least, about his past. The grinding could have done that to him, as we saw with Jamie, a grind can go very bad. --Spiraltwist 22:31, 31 December 2007 (PST)

It seems that, with the ubiquity of all of the various implanted technology (such as shriekyware, clatter, biometr, etc.) that a grinder with the ability to read the various devices (as they all broadcast) would be able to function as a mind reader. This does not quite explain pulling images directly (although theoretically that should be possible), but it would not surprise me, either.--Tom 16:18, 8 April 2008 (PDT)

It might be noteworthy that Dr. Cannon talks about purposefully putting the memory of John' dead parents "right there" - pointing at his temple/forehead, right where he's sporting a band-aid. Maybe Dr. Cannon is also a Grinder? His (apparently) black teeth might support this. -- Eschatonic.water

i like the possible book conection although the grinder idea is more plausable, i like the elder gods. giant squids are fun too! Hey if you saw a all powerful giant squid you would probably be confused too! --KloKworK 17:43, 3 July 2008 (PDT)

Leave it to Dr. Albert Cannon to pick up the bloody money from around the Mind Reader's body after the Doctor kills him. --Spiraltwist 22:20, 29 October 2008 (PDT)
