Talk:Catastrophe Books
From doktorsleepless
Issue #1 page 12, showing the street that Catastophe Books is on, there is a SHADOW of a person walking, but not a person to cast said shadow. Given the locations and shadows of the car and light pole, that doesn't make sense. Also, there is an lot of darkness in that right corner of the same panel, given me the impression that this shadow person is emerging from the darkness itself.
Maybe it was the "delivery guy"? Unless his delivery van is assumed to be off panel somewhere? How far are you going to walk a pallet of books to the store, even if they are on wheels?

In issue 2 it looks like the cars outside the shop are driving in the left lane, but on closer observation are driving in the same direction in both lanes, but while I was going with a left lane driving scenario I was thinking along these lines...
1.Heavenside is in America and they drive on the right hand side there. 2. The cars appear to be driving in the left lane.
Therefore..
3. The heavenside in which events are taking place is actually on the wrong side of the mirror and the real John Reinhardt is the one that Doktor Sleepless is talking to in the Mirror in the club in issue 2.
I then decided that no, it must be a one way street.

We really need a map drawn of the known streets and their directions. --Spiraltwist 21:42, 17 December 2007 (PST)
Problem, I just checked. We know almost -nothing- from source.
Then again, I think there might be some hope in collating the various skyscapes we've seen to get an idea of where events are taking place, if that level of consistency has been paid. Which we can only hope right? --Confusion 02:05, 18 December 2007 (PST)
I've got an idea of how to do this, but I'm going to have to get another copy of the books. Give me a few days. --Spiraltwist 08:00, 18 December 2007 (PST)
My idea won't work, yet. Need more streets. --Spiraltwist 20:45, 9 January 2008 (PST)
The Streets direction
It has been proposed that the street is one way, however, this supposition seems EXTREMELY problematic.
Why?
Traffic appears to be travelling in both directions in Issue 3. Traffic appears to be travelling only in one direction in Issue 2. Cars are consistently parked facing the wrong direction for the supposed direction of the one-way street in Issue 1.
Unfortunately, since we know Heavenside is in the States, the traffic SHOULD be travelling on the right, which makes the panel in Issue 2 problematic.
Unless we're dealing with a rare glimpse of the mirror world. --Confusion 02:15, 18 December 2007 (PST)
Or the worlds are superimposed over one another, and we aren't really aware of it. --Spiraltwist 07:58, 18 December 2007 (PST)
I like the thought of that. :)--Confusion 17:45, 18 December 2007 (PST)
Or a more mundane thought, maybe the street is designated certain ways depending upon the time of the day. Some streets may be one way between 9am-5pm for example, but both ways the rest of the time. --Spiraltwist 21:21, 18 December 2007 (PST)
I noticed it appeared to be two-way in issue three after I had posted it appeared one way in issue 2. Maybe there is a really slow moving vehicle in the right lane and everyone is simply overtaking. I felt like a doofus when I posted and then read the next issue and it proved my idea wrong. --Filthmammoth 21:00, 19 December 2007 (PST)
Issue 4 (if my memory serves me correctly), just before the Angel Event, shows that the street is wide enough for 2 cars, but that they are going in the same direction (one of them may be parked). --hobofood 01:20, 10 January 2008 (PST)
