Created back during the Imminent.sea group blog by a serious freak. According to Doktor Sleepless, it's a tailored infectious experimental virii, a designer disease. He "opened the door for it" in Heavenside. He needed more chaos in the mix and right now it pleases him to hurt people. Celia was amongst the first 3 known cases.

In issue#8 it is revealed to be a military bioweapon known as St. Theresa's Rapture. Working on a person's imagination, it creates a permanent mind-altering affect that makes people see angels aka Angel constructs. The scaring on the face is said to have a pyschological effect on people around them. Doktor Sleepless says it will make one a Seer.

Side-effects from St.Teresa's Eyes:

It is possible that Doktor Sleepless has himself at some point been infected, as he sees an angel construct in one scene. Additionally, given the implied proliferation of grey mask wearers in Heavenside by the time Sarah Berlin arrives it is probably safe to assume that the number of infections has risen considerably from the original three.

Named after Teresa of Avila [1], "a prominent Spanish mystic, Carmelite nun, and writer of the Counter Reformation".
