St. Theresa
From doktorsleepless
St. Theresa of Avila was an important Christian mystic of the 1500s. Intensely devout from a young age, she attempted to martyr herself at the hands of the Moors at age seven. Theresa became a nun at age nineteen, and soon after fell ill. This sickness commenced a lifetime of experiencing spiritual ecstasies and divine visions, including but not limited to an angel repeatedly penetrating her heart with a flaming lance. This was the inspiration for Gian Lorenzo Bernini's famed sculpture "The Ecstacy Of St. Theresa".
She died on the cusp of the shift from the Julian to the Gregorian Calendar in Spain in 1582 - hence her time of death may said to not exist in Catholic chronology, failing as it may within the several days excised from the calendar in order to correct the shift.
Doktor Sleepless mentions to Preston Stoker that three cases of "St. Teresa's Eyes" in central Heavenside. This could be related to what happened to Celia and the angel construct seen by her in Issue #4.
