Grey masks
From doktorsleepless
Showing up on the steps of Catastrophe Books, Sing Watson originally thought they might have been created by artists who left them there to give away.
The masks were left by Doktor Sleepless.
Taking the box inside, she decides to take one to Celia, who is still recovering at Heavenside General Hospital from an unknown aliment (probably St. Teresa's Eyes) that the doctors have yet to diagnose and treat effectively.
Seeing the mask Celia immediately puts it on, and seems happy to wear it.
Celia's red eyes, coupled with the grey color of the mask, makes her appear otherworldly. The vision of her wearing it is quite striking - which may be the point of the mask.
At this time it is unknown what is seen when wearing the mask, or whether one has be infected with the St. Teresa's Eyes virus for the mask to work, assuming that it does do something.
Since the masks was dropped off by Doktor Sleepless, it's only a matter of time before their purposes become clear.
A woman wearing a grey mask is seen in the train station when Sarah Berlin arrives, but her eyes are not pure red like Celia's. Celia's conversation with Sarah later implies that there are many mask wearers around Heavenside.
