Some say the number 23 has spooky significance.

- The Heavenside police believe that John Reinhardt is held captive in cell 23 of the St. Thomas Institute.

- The numbers 2 and 3 appear in succession on two of the H-Plates in issue #002.

- Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth prescribes its members to create magickal sigils at the 23rd hour (11:00PM) of the 23rd day of the month.

- Apparently, 23 is also important to the Cthulhu mythos.

- 23 factors heavily in Robert Anton Wilson's Illuminatus! trilogy, and was explored in the 1998 film 23, as well as the more recent Jim Carrey movie The Number 23. Illuminatus! was heavily influenced by the Principia Discordia.

- The Principia Discordia is the central canon of Discordianism and states the "Law of Fives": that all things are related directly, indirectly, or not at all to 5. Many indirect things require ingenious interpretations, but it should be obvious that 23 is very important, as 2+3=5.

- According to Wikipedia, William S. Burroughs was the first to notice the "23 phenomenon."

- In the I-Ching, 23 is known as "Po" or "Splitting Apart," where yin energies are about to overtake yang through gradual erosion.

- The 23 enigma according to Wikipedia.

- A 'normal' human has 23 pairs of chromosomes in his/her genetic construction. [1] [2]
